Re: Container store racks
I used some myself and had several escapes. Luckily I had the perfect snake vacation spot in the same room. A tub with a board over it was the preferred spot to find any escapees. Especially hatchlings, whihc are small enough to squeeze out, and larger ones can bend the flimsy plastic.
If you look VERY carefully you can see the gap between the top and the edge of the tub. I DID use these for a while, but warn you that the little guys CAN and WILL escape out fairly easily.
Better by far to use lock top containers. If it is too much of a pain to move all of them to get to the bottom, you might be able to use some concrete blockes, or milk crates or something to make some shelves. Just lay the boards across then make another layer with another concrete block or milk crate or whatever, then another board. Then you have just shelves to sit the individual bins on.
Of course all the above is only my humble opinion and some settling may have occured during shipping.

Re: Container store racks
They are incredibly secure....for storing toiletries, toys, miscellaneous odds and ends. Snakes?...not so much! ;)
For your preciously little wiggly baby snakes, I'd go with a something else. :)

You dont find that your cotton balls try to escape?
What everyone else said, not secure at all. Its no fun searching for lost snakes.

Well occasionally they do but then they usually do their yearly migratory route under the back corner of my bed where they breed happily and live their little wild cotton ball lives out in relative peace and quiet. :P

Hahaha! I've got a herd (flock? gaggle?) of those under my bed, too! May have to try and get some pics someday and put them in the "Wildlife" forum! :P
Re: Container store racks
Oh you brave soul Judy! Remember to tie on a safety line BEFORE attempting to get close enough for pics of a wild breeding colony of cotton balls. Once they go feral they are quite dangerous!!!! I believe a female with young recently snarled at me while I was attempting to vacuum under there!
 :bolt:
