    New member needs advice
Hi, I'm new to this forum, but not new to keeping snakes. I have taken care of many throughout the past few years. I have only dealt with corn snakes so far and want to add a BP to my collection. I have always liked them but, wanted to get some experience in caring for snakes (i.e. corns) before I got one. I have heard they can be difficult feeders. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you could tell me where you purchased your Royal (Ball) Pythons? I want to stay away from the pet stores and find a reputable breeder of Captive Bred Pythons only. I think that is the way to go even if they are more expensive. Can anyone reccomend a good breeder in the US that I could look into. What about reptile shows? Would that be a good place to buy one or should I be worried about mites and parasites? I had a bad experience that I do not want to repeat. I am planning on waiting a few months before I purchase the snake, to get informed, read all I can and get a cage set up for him. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Sidhe,
Look around, as there are numerous breeders right here on this site. Click on a few links in some of the peoples signature area to go to their site. I also see that you live in Michigan. You may want to try to get a hold of Lori or Brian Barcyzk from BHB. They are one of the largest breeders in the states. Good luck, and post some pics of your new snake when you get it.

There are some great deals and horrible nightmares at shows, the trick is being able to spot one from the other, which can be tricky. Just talk to the vendor, see how they answer your questions and all, you can usually tell in the first minute or two whether or not its someone you'd like to do business with.

Lots of good breeders on this very site who ship and would almost certainly give you a bps.net super deal. Welcome to the site.

Welcome aboard! :handshake: Sounds like you're off to a great start, learning as much as possible beforehand. And I agree that you won't go wrong if you carefully choose a reputable breeder of CB animals.

As for which morph you want...hehe...how much are you planning on spending? We always enjoy "helping" people decide how to spend their money on morphs. ;) :P
