    Should BP eggs be slit?
After 56 days, one BP slit its' egg open and slithered out. There are three more eggs that are part of the cluth. Should I slit the other three eggs, since the BP's have not done so yet (It has been 2 days since the first slit its' egg)? If so, when? What is the safest procedure? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

I'm pretty sure that so long as the yolk is still intact (kinda hard to tell from outside the egg, right?), the baby won't suffocate or drown in fluid, but I do know (not yet from personal experience) that some breeders slit all of the eggs once one or more of them start to pip.

As far as slitting goes, I know that the idea is not to cut any of the veins, just the outer shell. I'm sure someone will chime in soon with exactly how to do it.

once the first one pips on it's own, i cut the rest. use cuticle scissors. pinch a little bit on top of the egg, cut the part you pinched just enough to make a slit. i cut a little v shaped hole, and put the flap back down.

Thanks for the info, it was very helpful. I am just a little paranoid because this is my first cluth. It's very exciting and nerve-racking all in one.

Slitting eggs is especially nerve wracking, when you're cutting someone else's eggs and they look ready to tackle you to take away the scissors. :wuv: (but it's also completely and totally AWESOME!! )
