    ATB or ETB
Hi! Im trying to start a breeding business and I was wondering which snake would be better to breed? I have insufficient funds for ETB's but I could get a loan from a friend OR I could breed ATB's but the only problem is if I bred ATB's than I wouldnt be able to raise enough funds for the ETB's Im planning on buying later. Im leaning towards ATB's cause I hear there easier to take care of but they're alot less profitable. Is that true? Which one would be better if I was trying to make a little bit of money?

    Thank You,
    Patrick Crockett

I'd say ETBs for the reasons that you mentioned. ATBs seem to be pretty cheap and might be more difficult to sell off. I think most people that get get into tree snakes usually look at ETBs or GTPs. Right now I have a GTP, but I'd love to get an emmie in the future.

So which one do you like better? That would be the determining factor for me...

I don't want to come off as a jack butt, but if you don't have the money to buy ETB then you should't be breeding either. You have to be ready to feed and house all of the babies when they are born. Unless you have a self supported rat and mouse colony or frozen feeders and lots of extra free space and time, then I would hold off on breeding a bit.

What you should get is what you are interested in. Have the setup right and be prepared for costs, food, heating expense, un-expected possible vet bills... additional house and a repeat of the mentioned costs if you breed them.

I have to agree with the last post, if you don't have the money, then wait till you do. You will be in a much better position to deal with the husbandary requirements and enjoy it more!

At the hobbiest level, don't expect to make a profit, but do expect to enjoy it!

Ya, that too. I find that being prepared will save you the hastle in the end. If you have the money ready for the adults, make sure you have caging ready for the babies and food ready
