    mite update
i have posted before about vernon having mites. so here is what we have done. we have switched to paper towels for substrate. give him betadine baths every 2-3 days to get rid of mites on him. thoroughly bleached his tank every 2-3 days until we got provent-a-mite. so we have treated the tank with provent-a-mite, and to my relief, vernon fed yesterday without any hitches ( i was worried all the bathing/moving/provent-a-mite would stress him out ). my question though, is i did see a mite on him a while ago. they have definitely lessened (i cant see any on the towels anymore). i understand i am to treat the tank again after a month right? and i guess continue with the betadine baths. is there any good product to apply ON the snake to get rid of the mites on him, or is the regular betadine soak as good as any?

other than this mite thing, vernon is doing pretty good. never missed a feed since we got him. :)

Petsmart, and I'm sure other places sell it as well, but it is called Reptile Relief. It can be put directly on the snake. I don't recomend getting it in their eyes. I have used this on snakes that I received before that had mites. Bath with Reptile Relief, and PAM the cage. One week later, do same treatment, and mites were gone. Give it a tgry, great stuff.
