    I am so discouraged/mad...
Well, we had a clutch of 8 eggs in May.. only two survived, the others ended up turning orange/green, smelling bad and dying.
Now the second last one is doing this too; I just about cried when I looked into the incubator today seeing this. The other egg looks fine, still denty but nice and white; but I am just so freaking mad now. My incubator is a Little Giant (like a hovabator) and it keeps the temps great; I have 2 thermometers in the rubbermaid I keep the eggs in, inside the inc. I am using moist vermiculite like I should be, keeping it moist but not sopping wet, and the humidity is fine; what the %$#@ is going on here.
I am so discouraged right now. :rainon:

They both candled good, nice red veins visible in the shells, about 2 days ago. I always wear rubber gloves when I handle them; I am that paranoid about bacteria. I know that even chicken eggs, with their hard shells, can get bact infections if you even blow on them, so i am careful... grrr.
Thanks for your posts so far; I feel a little better already :)

Gin...I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing NEAR you when I say this, but LOL...you're on your way to being a pro herp breeder!

We ALL have perfect eggs that turn from sugar to shi...er, doodee at some point or another, for a multitude of reasons. Yes, it sucks to high heaven, but you are NOT alone.

If it makes you feel any better, I had one of my favorite females lay ONE good egg yesterday...all the rest were crap. Everything was dialed in perfectly (or so I thought), but she schooled me otherwise.

This is all part of breeding snakes, hon. "Some will, some won't, so what." I know it's probably small consolation at the moment, but this sort of stuff really is just par for the course at some point or another.

    Hang in there!!!!!!!!

Ditto what Kara said ... I just threw 6 moldy eggs in the garbage this morning ... Sadly, they're just not all meant to survive.

You'll do better next year for sure! ;)

Words of wisdom right there! I think we all forget that this isn't a perfect science and just because we make things as perfect as humanly possible, sometimes the BP gods will just take a giant crap on ya! Hang in there Gin!

Sorry to hear about the clutch.

I wish you luck on the single egg. This might be your Golden Child.

KLG is right, this is the way to the big leagues.

    It sucks but its true.

I will pray for the lone egg.
