I need to stop researching snakes...
Leeetle island dwarf boas! Maybe I will have to break down someday on the boas and get a bitty one... I just love their faces so much. So cute... I'm a sucker for Anerys too, and these guys lean in that direction with that classic Boa face, rarely getting more than 5'. Probably a good thing that they're not readily available, lol, we so can't play anymore Tetris in this place with our breeding plans. Boy do I need a snake room...
Crawl Cay Boa
Cay Caulker Boa
Re: I need to stop researching snakes...
They may not be readily available, but the Central American BCI's are becoming alot more popular and are fairly easy to get a hold of. They also typically stay under five feet. They also have some great morphs already out there.
Re: I need to stop researching snakes...
Ooh, I didn't realize Nicaraguan boas stayed so bitty... The Anery II morphs have some lovely irredecence to them too... I love the Guyanas but I know they get too big and fiesty! Hmmm, food for thought!
Re: I need to stop researching snakes...
My favorite of the dwarf boas are either the hogg island(rarely over 6' for females) and the mexican dwarf boas(example at http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=8&de=404575)
Check out www.riobravoreptiles.com and look around. Gus is a great guy and says nice boas!
Re: I need to stop researching snakes...
I had actually emailed Gus of Rio Bravo Reptiles and discussed getting a baby pair of Caulker Cay boas to start a breeding project. I would still like to do it someday, when I have more time and money. They're such nice looking little guys... :D And, honestly, I think the market is going to open up for the smaller breeds of boas.

Thats what I was thinking. People that want the boa look and personality but don't want the size would probably give them a chance!
Good luck on those C.C. boas

Very cool Nicci boa!! How big do the females get? Thats a really nice little boa
Re: I need to stop researching snakes...
How did I forget your adorable bitty Bluefields, SPJ?! :fishslap: See, insomnia is bad for the brain. So cute! Gomez is a year old and bigger than her!
And thanks for the links, Pork Chops! *drools over boas for a while* Serinams and Guyanas slay me... it's the burgandy tails and high contrast kill me every time. But I know they get way too big for me.
My main thing with a boa is I'd want one that'd stay *relatively* on the silver side and stay small enough never to need/be tempted by rabbits. My house rabbits live more or less like cats roaming around, and it's nice that I can sit on the couch with Gomez or Ma-tsu without worrying about the bunny bouncing past working them up. I'm still careful, but it's not as stressful as say free range rats running around the apartment while a snake is on my lap. Especially the boid cruisers who are more inclined to sit on the couch with me (Ma-tsu? Sit still? Heaven forfend! Also, Gomez is wisely scared of fast moving rabbits) Also, it's just handy to have all my adults eating more or less similar sized rats.
As I work toward having more room around here, I may need to keep an eye on SPJ's Bluefield and Lady's C.C. projects! ;) And keep my eyes peeled on those Crawl Cays too... dangit, the wishlist just keeps growing!
