Might be losing my babies

Well as if my life didn't need anymore twists and turns. Today the 1st Sgt called me at work and dropped a ton of good news on me. He said the Command Chief for the base (highest ranked NCO) has decided to take a pot shot at my snakes and lizards. Apperently he has learned of my little collection. and he is sending my Shirt (1st Sgt) out to investigate. The Chief told my Shirt that they want to take all my snakes. The Shirt explained to him I wasn't breaking any rules. You are allowed 3 pets on base. I have 2 cats and one dog, housing told us that anything in a cage doesn't count as a pet. So all my herps count as "0" pets. The Shirt also explained that my herps are harmless. He has been over to my house a few times and is really amazed with my collection. The Shirt is also pretty impressed like most people, that my house doesn't smell like animals period. I keep my cages very clean. The Chief is concerned about the snakes escaping and a health hazard they may present. The Shirt has to come over to my house and inspect all my cages for cleanliness and electrical hazards. I don't know what to think about all this. I hate the fact the people are scared of what they don't know. I am afraid that I am going to be losing some animals. I might let them force me to move off base and find a place of my own. I don't even know if I could choose which ones I would get rid of if they made me cut down. They also have to take pictues to show to the Chief. This just sickens me!

If you need me to hold one or two let me know. Can't take too many at a time or I might be looking for a home.

If I have to I will place what I can. I think it will all work out. I don't know whan I will get the answer from base leadership.

That really stinks, Lars! But if the regs are on your side, then stick to your guns and don't give in! But even if you win the battle, it's a pain in the butt to have to fight it just because someone is being a jerk. :mad:

I have delt with this befor and Im dealing with it as we speak Houseing is sending some one over tomorrow because a dumb **** spouse saw me outside teaching the kids on our street that snakes were not bad and saying I was putting the children in danger... I didnt even let the kids get close enough to get bit if my snake struck.. She even called my husbands 1st SGT...

don't take this the wrong way, sounds like a bad use of goverment funds (payroll) the sarge and chief have nothing more pressing or better to do? btw i'm an army brat, grew up with it my whole life. one of my best friend'sdad was command sargent major, he didn't do much either day to day.

Well the regs are on my side. I'll fight it just cause I can. I appreciate the support. They got thier hands full with me. Unlike a lot of people I read regs and know them. Chief has no clue what the regs say, I do.
