Thought it would be fun to take some BP anatomy close ups..(DU warning!)
After getting Havoc, I retired my previous education BP for breeding and repaced it with him. He is the sweetest, most "personable" BP in my collection...he loves to explore, doesn't mind being "poked and prodded" by kids, and eats well on a "more handling than usual" routine, which makes him perfect for the programs I do in schools. He was a rescue, have had him since Jan., and even though he was fed well, his eyes were "crinkly" from lack of humidity and his whole back was scraped up pretty badly...:(..(owie)....his former name was "Rocky Balboa"..(go figure) and owner could no longer care for him.Renamed him Havoc, and I can show the kids anything with him....even his teeth!!! (he doesn't mind)...very calm and robust, I love him!!!! the perfect pet snake IMO....

upon a first BP purchase, mite inspection is always a must....this is always a fave hiding spot for mites.....I always check there first.

half the scales in this pic are damaged...:(...this was taken from his back...he is an other wise healthy BP, just a few scars, and no worse for the wear!

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I beleive this little pink tube is called the glottis...its what enables a snake to breathe while swallowing prey....http://www.snakeneggs.com/snakepics/heat sensors.jpgheat sensory pits....

I thought these would go great with my education program...esp since kids don't really get that close to snakes all that often. Havoc is a great tool to bring snakes justice to their much undeserved reputation...esp for kids..:)

those are just fantastic pics!!!! What a neat way to help newbies learn....and I think doing that w/kids is great too. I miss that part of my earlier life...but now I do it one co-worker or neighbor at a time when I talk about my new love (hobby). :D

Wonderful pics and very educational for your kid program as well as the members here new and old. Thanks so much for posting them! I know my own children, even though they see BP's all the time, will still be very fascinated by your photography.
