Any precautions for CH snakes

I was considering buying a small group of normal females to begin to raise for future projects. What kinds of precautions need to be taken when getting CH babies?

Do I need to keep them completely separated from the other snakes (different room), and if so for how long?

Should they all be treated for mites/parasites?

Any other suggestions?

Quarantining is a MUST for a minimum of 3 months with CH. Different room, different equipment. If you have to use the same equipment as your other snakes, make sure you sterilize them between uses. Depending on who you're buying them from, they may have already been treated for mites and parasites. It might be worth it to pay a little more and get ones that are already treated and have eaten. Either way, it's a good idea to get them checked out at the vet after they settle in.

CH are a good way to go for baby bps. Particularly if you buy them from a breeder/importer who is reputable and cares for them. It is always good to quaranteen anything new that you add to collection, but generally ch babies come across the ocean before even their first shed, are healthy and aclimate quickly to the captive environment, much like a captive bred one would.

And thanks for the advice Justin, I don't want to add too many more at this time, but I know I need to add a few new females. I am just concerned about keeping my others healthy, and up to this point I have bought CB and a couple CH that were 3 years old .....

Are there any particular breeders that you would suggest?

Five of my current collection all came from Will Bird of http://www.ectotherms.net and I couldn't be happier with them. So much so that I'm getting another five in a a few weeks (you'll see them on hold ;) )

I also bought one from http://www.ballroompythonssouth.com and I understand that Ben Siegel is also a good guy to use as well!

All the ones that robin mentioned are good ppl. I tend to think of ch and cb as the same thing, but the ch have had a hectic first week of life, lol. Once they get here and settled down they are awesome pets and future breeders. It's kind of cool to know that you're getting fresh blood too... there's always that chance for something cool to pop out.

Don't get them confused with wild caughts though. WC were born in the wild, and have had plenty of time to grab parasites and whatnot, usually they turn their noses up at our "petstore" rodents too. :)
