Mr. Sweetie has turned in to Mr. Pissy!!!
I don't understand this! Sebastian lived in a tub with the breeder, he was very snappy. I got him, put him in a tank till I got my flexwatt and tub all set up perfect. He was so calm and nice while he was housed in that tank. Last week I got his tub all set up, etc. Since he has been in that he has become a complete insane mouth open striking fool! I don't know why he's being an ass now all of a sudden. You walk by the tub and he strikes at the plastic. God forbid you open it up because he comes launching right on out of his hide a good foot!
Will he grow out of this?!
Re: Mr. Sweetie has turned in to Mr. Pissy!!!
I would suggest giving him a full "acclimation" period, just like you did (or like we suggest anyhow) when you brought him home for the first time. Maybe even a little longer if he is that stressed out. You might also try the "newspaper trick" and see if that helps him to settle down and feel secure in his new home.
Re: Mr. Sweetie has turned in to Mr. Pissy!!!
perhaps the tub reminds him of unhappier times?
Re: Mr. Sweetie has turned in to Mr. Pissy!!!
That is exactly what I'm thinking!!!
Maybe I should try out the tank again and see if his moods go back to acting like a normal sweet ball python?!

That's what I would do......try putting him back in the tank and see what happens. I don't know what other people have to say about the memory capacity of snakes, but IMO, I think they have great memories.....about two years ago I let my nephew(stupid me) hold Starscream, and he dropped her. She struck at him and got upset whenever he passed by her cage, and two years later, she still gets upset when in the presence of children, but is perfectly calm around adults.
Re: Mr. Sweetie has turned in to Mr. Pissy!!!
He was probably too cool in the tank ... cool snakes are less active and more docile ... put a snake at it's proper temps and it's true personality comes out. Easier to keep the correct temps in a tub.
I'd just let him settle in in the tub and see how he turns out ... moving him back and forth is only going to cause more stress.
The "type" of cage can not dictate a ball pythons behavior ... security (hides) and temps can make a ball either nippy or calm.
Maybe he's hungry?

Thanks Adam!
I'm just going to leave him in the tub and just let him settle in. I like the tub better any way from the tank since I have the teps just right and all is well with it!
He may be hungry since he has not eaten the last two times I'f offered him a rat pup. Maybe tomorrow he will eat *crosses fingers*
