All this talk about Ackies
Well after all this talk about these Ackies, I started reading up on them and wow. Im reading up on all types but think im going to have to get a Ackie. Ill probably wait tell next reptile show and it seems like its a way off at this point. So is there any other monitors that would be a good first one?
Re: All this talk about Ackies
What type of ackie are you thinking of gettting? Yellow or red?
You can also check into the other dwarf monitors....black-headed monitors and freckled monitors. These are just a bit bigger than Ackies.
Re: All this talk about Ackies
i was thinking about a yellow. I havent looked into those yet. Im just trying to gather the basic information right now.
Re: All this talk about Ackies
have you looked at proexotics caresheet yet? (http://proexotics.com/care_ackie.html) it has some great information on it.
Re: All this talk about Ackies
How is your new Ackie doing Marshall? I got to see my first Ackies in person last Friday and I am sold....As soon as I get the space to setup a really nice enclosure I plan on getting a few.
How is the temperment on yours?
Re: All this talk about Ackies
he's doing great. hes runnin around the enclosure right now. he's not at all aggressive, he hasnt tried to bite me at all yet. when i try to hold him all he does is runs and wiggles. lol. they're tons of fun.
Re: All this talk about Ackies
Yeah, I read it twice. Are there any other monitors that stay small? Im not worryed about temperments, so is there any other small ones?
Re: All this talk about Ackies
There are smaller ones, but they are not great in captivity and also run 1k-2k USD. Forgot the name though
Re: All this talk about Ackies
yes, they're are also smaller monitors in captivity like gilleni, brevicauda, storri, glauerti, caudolineatus, and others. i dont know all of them because im new to monitors too.
Re: All this talk about Ackies
and there is another type of ridge-tailed monitor too. varanus baritji or blackspotted ridge-tailed monitor. they're not available in the US.
