Have you ever made a boo-boo probing???

The reason I'm asking is that I feel like an idiot. A friend of mine who bred hots and colubrids was the one who taught me how to probe. After a few "training" sessions, he said i should practice so that i remenber "the feel" for the difference between males and females. He said the best way to practice is on my own snakes since I already knew the sex of them. This was years ago, and I have since had acquired several more snakes and probed them myself. However, have you ever been wrong? The reason I'm asking is that I had a rescue that I thought probed female...."she" was being very difficult at the time, and wouldn't be still at all, and to avoid more stress and risk of hurting "her", I just put "her" in the quarantine tank with another female that I had got three days before from a reptile show. Well, my bad because two weeks later "she" was locked up with the other girl!!!!! My boyfriend said IMO, "you just "thought" it was a female cause of wishful thinking"........hey, maybe it was cause I just have too many boys!!!

I know a breeder who does nothing but breed and sell reptiles, who mis-sexed a ball python, three times in a row, once each year, and only discovered she was a he, when he put in a male to breed "her" and they started sparring.
He tells me that off and on as a laugh on himself, so anyone can make a mistake. No matter how seasoned someone is, they can always bein a rush, or not pay quite enough attention, or just be darned wrong.

Hey, I have heard of males trying to lock up with other males.......hmmmm.....

Haha; read my post in the General forum; my "male" is a female. I had it reversed; the one I thought was the female, LaVey, was the sire, and Gobby laid the eggs!
I have horrendously innacurate probing skills, let it be known. But so do the "breeders" who sold be Gobby as "a former male breeder we don't need anymore." ..... :)
