Morph Question...
Ok, I was at a pet shop the other day and they had about 20 hatchlings. So I had to play with them... lol anyway, I was asking them questions and they said that they came from a known breeder but wouldn't tell me who. They said they didn't know if they were from different clutches or anything like that.
Well, as I was playing with all of them, I could see that groups of them looked releated in patterns. There was one that was different from all of them...he looked like "semi" pastel. The little guy was way lighter then all the others but not light enough for me to call a pastel. He also had the pale-ish grey-ish eyes.
My question is, are there siblings to pastels that are not pastel but still have some trait showing...like lighter coloring and pale eyes?

Re: Morph Question...
i wouls have to say no if a breeder had a clutch of pastel eggs lets say 4 eggs and when they hatch you have one like that as you are saying they would sell it as a pastel but with out a pic of the snake your asking about it is most likey a normal lite in color with the lite playing on the eyes

Re: Morph Question...
yes, a pastel sibling might be a great looking normal, but it is a normal. You can breed it all year long to normals, and you get more normals. It is that strange co-dom gene thing.
Pastel siblings are normall very pretty snakes, just normals, as most breeders will use relaly nice females to breed to their pastel males.
I got several pastel siblings early in my snakey experiance, and was told they MIGHT give me a pastel, and I bought that line of blooey. That is what I get for not researching the morphs before buying. I ended up trading them as normals for a couple normal hatchling females. In other words, 3 of my pastel sibling males, for 1 normal hatchling female.
If you like the looks and want it as a really pretty snake, go for it, and he might make some very nice looking normals, if you were to use him as breeder.

Re: Morph Question...
Yeah, I have been debating to get him just to breed to my lemon pastel female. The problem is that I have to convince "the boss" of the house that it would be worth while to get another normal....I don't know if she will go for it. She already wants me to get rid of one of my normals (as you know Wolfy) :( I will try to get him or post some pics at least.

Re: Morph Question...
Ahhh, I know all about "the boss", I have one of those too that does not quite undrestand why I would want so many snakes. Might be worth a try though.

Don't waste that girl on a normal male! You could get a pastel male this year for a bargain price (+/- $400) and that would give you a chance at Super Pastels.

P.S.
The pet shop thinks I am a freak now because I wanted to get him out to take pictures of the little guy to show my friends on the forum... LOL

Re: Morph Question...
I must say, he's a very pretty, very yellow normal. That little bp would make a beautiful pet. :D

Re: Morph Question...
He might be cute, but he'll NEVER make a super!
