Erm...
This past monday my father decided that we needed to dust my PC. Great, right? Well, they used this spray stuff that Dad'd never used before. Thinking that it would be about the same as the "clean air" stuff, he decided to plug it in and turn it on. BAD idea. It completely fried the power box. So...I am no longer PC-able.
After tomorrow my time online will be cut down to evenings, and even then, I have to wait until Dad gets home with the laptop. That, and after June 16, he's got to turn in that laptop. (School's). So...I won't be around half as much. -Tear.-
If anyone wants to get ahold of me to chat or whatnot, you can go ahead and call my cell phone: 804-514-3387. I'd ask that unless you have Verizon, that you not call me until after 9P.M. or any time during the weekends.
Anyhoo...I love you guys!
Melanie.

Re: Erm...
Damn shame to hear!
Are you able to swap out the power supply? You can get a decent one for not too many bucks and aside from the affiliated cabling mess they are pretty simple to change out.

Re: Erm...
There's a lot of problems with my PC. One: The OS. I swear to GOD, Bill Gates was smokin' somethin' when he approved ME. So that leads to two: It's OLD! I'm using Microsoft Works which isn't really compatible.
The power supply that it uses is so old, and I'm not sure if a newer one will be compatible.
He is, however, talking to a student of his about buying a fairly new PC for cheap, though. So...I'm hoping that pans out.

Re: Erm...
We have ME as well, it's nuts! Sorry to hear about your computer woes, been there too many times to count myself. Keep in touch as often as you can. Most libraries have free internet access. Hope your dad is able to pick up that other computer for you and next time Dad has a bright idea like that....throw yourself across the computer and insist he Google for approved products first ;)

Re: Erm...
I work in a library! But I also have to take the bus up here and back, and the schedules a little...awkward because I live out in the West End part of Richmond.
Trust me. When I get a new PC, I'll be writing contracts for anyone who wants to use it. O_O

ME is horrible! at my old work we used to have this one computer with ME on it and we had to rotate work stations every now and then... we'd always dread the possibility of ending up with the ME computer.

Re: Erm...
I think ME lasted less than a week in or house - then it was on to 2000 or back to win98SE - even the kids who were MUCH younger then turned up their noses at it - would continually crash at the drop of a hat!

ME lasted one install that was on my computer for not even a week. ME is pretty lame. I used 98SE, and still have a few originals disks with it around here, it was better than ME. But soon and XP was out, I canned SE also!

Re: Erm...
Yeah...it definitely does suck. A lot. Every time I have to write I paper I have to save it in RTF and it never holds the headers/footers so I have to redo them. Bill Gates should be beaten for signing on it. Meh.
Anyways...let's hope for the best. I'm kind of taking advantage right now because I'm at work.

Re: Erm...
Hey - you can always go for a free distro of Linux!
No better way to sock it to 'ole Billy.
