    BP Diameter and length??
    Just a quick little question...
Can anyone tell me the girth of a full grown python.
I know they can be 4-6 feet long but I was reading (http://www.peteducation.com/article....articleid=2422) that they are usually 4-6 inchs in diameter????

I measured the fatest part of my BP last week and she was 4 inches, and she is only just over 2 feet long! Is she too fat?? :confuzd: I only feed her one mouse a week and I could even start giving her rats soon if not now!

So what is the diameter of ur BPs???

Wow thats a tough question! So many different things can account for the girth, sex, YES PLEASE!, age, diet, prey size, length.... Balls will become over wieght if fed to much but sounds to me that yours is doing just fine!! Once a week feedings are a good way to go and if your feeding mice i dont see how she could be getting to much unless you are feeding multiple mice a feeding. Davu is 30 inches and i havent thought to measure his girth but I will do that when i get to the house tonight and post his measurements! :)
Sounds to me like your good man, just tell him to cut back on the french fries and milkshakes and you should have no worries!! :) lol

ACK! That also says to keep you bps at temps of 69-75 at night!! Not a chance!!

Unless it was a man taking the measurements :devilish:, then 6" diameter seems a bit large for an adult bp. Also most bps stay from 3-5 feet in length, with 6 being a max.

Are you measuring the circumference or the diameter? Or maybe I'm totally off. I would guess my girls, who are about 2-3 years old, are only about 3" in diameter

I wish I knew my snakes sex!
I asked some ppl and they said I would have to pay some money and I also brought it up to the vet, she knew someone but didnt seem very interested in helping me figure out its sex!
    I would love to know!
Personally I think it's a girl because its spurs are SUPER small!
U can't even really see them unless u look hard!

I may have measured my BP a few days after she ate so she might have been a little bigger.
I will measure before I feed her and see then!

Anyway I just wanted to make sure that this guy didnt know what he was talking about when it came to snakes. I figured "I" was doing it wrong! lol CRAZY PPL! :colbert:

It sounds like you might be measuring circumference

    4 inch circumference

    pi*D=4
    D = 4/3.14 = 1.28 inches

In order for her to be really 4 inches in diameter you would have to take a string and measure around her body, and the string would have to be 12.5 inches long....

I bet your snake is 1.28 inches in diameter :)

Oh sure drag actual mathematical equations into this. Really, Bryan I don't think that's necessary. :neener: Of course that's considering your bp is perfectly round so give or take that answer. ;) (My first thought was C = 2 pi r, and then I realized 2r = d :slamhead: ACK my brain is beginining to atrophy)

    :worship:

Not necessarily - my male Sullivan has the smallest spurs of all my snakes, and I only have two males right now.
