Communal Weaning? (2-4 mothers in a big cage)
I was wondering if anyone used communal weaning in their colonies. What I mean by this is once the babies show signs of eating food/drinking (have their eyes open, etc), to put them into a bigger cage, with a few other females and their litters, all similar size of course.

I have just tried this recently, and the mothers seem to share nursing, and the babies seem to have become more independent in a larger cage with food and water, and plenty of friends/room to romp around. I also figured if I try to start staged weaning, that it will be easier in one big cage, than in 3-4 little ones, micromanaged, etc.

    Any thoughts/feedback?
