    hoggies in the wild!!!
    this is so cool... i was directed to this site - showing a woman and a hog island boa on cayo de los cochinos - so i wrote to them to ask them how many hoggies they've seen and how they are thriving. within minutes i got a response:

    According to the population studies conducted last year we still have several thousands of pink boas in Cayo Menor and Mayor. ( about 2000 to 5,000).

    Population is under recovery because of the legal regulations that we have on the protected area and the patrolling programs.

    I've asked him specifically about Hogs on Cayo Cochinos... I'll let you know what he says.

    I'm sooooo excited about this... how great to hear they are NOT extinct!!!

    They were thought to be dwindling close to extinction but after the ban on exporting them years ago, I have seen reports of a nice resurgence! Go Hoggies!
