I think we should all get together and make a calendar...

Wouldn't that be sooo cool?? I don't mean a 12 month wall calendar, I'm talkin' about a 365 day to day desk calendar. So many pics are submitted by people, that everyone would get a chance to have their photo included. We could even include pages of BP artworks,pages of BP breeders, and feature a "BP care tip of the day" on each page. If admin or whomever commissions things like this were to actually do this, they could sell the calendars right on this site, just like the t-shirts and other stuff. I know I'd buy at least five!! Whaddya think???

We've considered using past BPOM winners as the calendar images - we would of course need the permissions of all who have previously entered - it's definitely been kicked around (i think it came up no more than a month ago from Jeanne) and with enough interest would be worth the effort!

We'll want to slog through the remainder of the FAQ project first, of course - let's gauge some interest!

If you'd like to start a new thread with a poll I would be happy to merge this thread into it.

At the behest of 4thesnakelady here is the poll asking "Would you buy a calendar from our (cafepress) store if we made one?"

The idea as originally germinated would involve BPOM winners per-month with a given years' images used for the next calendar year (since we'd have a complete year of winners cataloged for that).

This would require explicit permission from the winners, sufficient interest to warrant the time and . . well that's about it really.

The only formats available would be a standard wall-hung 12 month type calendar and a one page referral calendar (upper half of page images, lower half all 12 months in small type).

(EDIT: The calendar would cost ~$17 dollars and the $2 profit would go towards site support/maintenance)

I think that the calender should have the 365 day reptile thing...

It would encompass ALL of our animals together. At least...the reptiles that are ours.

The problem with this would be finding someone to cover the printing costs. They would be quite huge. :( Would be a really fun project to put together, though.

I have looked on the web for companies selling page a day custom calendars...and I couldn't find any. If anybody has found such a company, how much are the day-to-day calendars versus the monthly wall one? I think that most of us would pay a little more for the page a day one...myself included.

365 day calendars the setup/printing costs woud be SOOOO prohibitive for small (<1000) orders.

The labor involved in setting them up would also preclude it from being an in-house project unfortunately - from captioning to getting 365 explicit permissions it would just utterly eclipse efforts in any other direction.

Still - would be interesting just to know what a printer would charge for something of that sort.

Well, I don't think we'd actually need 365 separate permissions, because likely many people would be submitting multiple pictures. Yes, collecting, choosing, arranging, formatting...all that would be a monumental effort in and of itself. But I'd be willing to do that...if we had someone to finance the effort. :P
