JCP or GTP?

I love both carpet pythons and Green tree pythons. But I'm looking for one that is a littl ebut more handlable than a GTP. How much can you handle carpet pythons. What locale would you reccomend? Or does the conditions not change and the locales are just based on color? Both of these arboreals are so cool.

JCP are definitely more handleable than your average GTP. Jungle carpet pythons don't have different locales. There are different carpet pythons though. Coastal carpets are the largest.. they can grow 10' or more. Irian Jaya carpets I believe are the smallest. Centralian carpets are quite different looking and more pricey than a JCP.

There may be more carpets, but I can't remember them now.

JCP are the black and yellow ones. They are not entirely arboreal. Adults spend most of their time on the ground, while juveniles do like to hang out on a branch quite a bit.

like shelby said, arboreal is kind of a misnomer (sp?) with morelia spilota ssp.
the 'big three' carpets - coastal, irian jayas, jcp's - all make great, tractable pets. those are not locales though... they're subspecies.
husbandry can be exactly the same between the three... very easy snakes to keep. i dig coastals myself. if you get a male it generally won't get that big and they aren't generally as heavily bodied as a lot of other big snakes (burms and boas etc).

I just got a JCP and I have to say that it is one of the the most enjoyable snakes I own. Easy to handle, and a real treat for the eyes! I do love the look of GTP, but I don't think I'd ever own one. I keep snakes as pets, not conversation pieces, so I don't see the point of owning a snake you can't interact with. (just my opinion, not meant to offend anyone with GTPs)
