Curious Pastels, HQ Pastel = HQ babies? and visa versa?
I was just wondering if HQ, high blushing, bright Pastels generally produce similar babies, or if it is also somewhat random? Does this depend a lot on the normal mother?

    Just curious :)

    thanks

    I'm stumped too! :)

And I'm curious about Jamie's question also... That's something I was wondering too... Also, if that is the case, is it that way with the other morphs as well?

Now, where's Adam when you need him! ;)

sorry, HQ = high quality, I was being lazy :(

I was just wondering if the quality of the pastel was the most important thing, or how it was paired up with a normal.

It seems like people are selling a LOT of low quality pastels, and Im not sure why people would be buying them if they tend to produce low quality babies.

That's what I noticed too!! I was thinking about getting one since they're getting so cheap, but what's the point if you could only produce sub-par offspring. I'm really glad you asked this one!

i think alot of people put price first. when choosing i try to get the best i can, within reason. even if i have to pay a little more. i have some pastel pairings this year to average girls and a couple to really nice girls. i'll be able to compare in a month or so. logically i would think that nice pastelsxnice females= nice babies, logic only goes so far though. lol

Heh I agree, logically I would think a nice pastel = nice babies, but that formula is too easy, because people could cull out low qualities and leave all nice ones.

I would think that as well... but here's ALSO what I KNOW....

If you paired a 90% white pied and a 90% white pied... you could wind up with a VERY low white offspring... so it just doesn't make any sense. lol

I have some normal girls that are high in blushing, and high yellow/gold girls that I will be putting my lemon male with... and we'll see what I produce from those pairings.. I also have some "standard" normals that are very average that I'll put a different pastel male with.. We'll see what happens... but line breeding has to take over at SOME point.......... Doesn't it???

I don't remember from where I got this from, but Im pretty sure I saw that ugly pastels can make really nice babies. So I would assume it would go vica versa. But if you put an ugly pastel with a phenominal normal, i would think your chances would go up that you would have better babies.

I don't have any clue about the banding or blushing.

An ugly pastel can throw a nice baby here and there, especially when paired with a nice looking normal female ... but, high quality pastels are far more likely to consistently produce high quality babies.

Bascially, when you're buying a clunker, you are more than likely going to produce more clunkers than really nice looking pastels ... there is a price to pay for that bargin. ;)
