First Tag

Well it's been 8.5 months and 10 snkes before I got my first tag. I always see everyone saying it doesn't hurt much. I didn't believe you until it happened. Delilah was trying to climb inside my shirt, I was trying to keep her out. She got mad and tagged me. She clamped down for a second or two then let go. It wasn't as bad as I expected. Here are a few pics of me showing it off right away. I treated it with Betadyne so it should be ok. This is the second time she has tagged someone so she is strictly my snake now. I won't let anyone else handle her. I know she will calm down eventually. Enjoy the pics.

I had a feeling she would be my first. I am going to keep working with her. I just started handling her pretty frequently. She was just getting over her bad reputation from tagging my son and had to go pull that stunt. I didn't jerk or pull her off so I hope she didn't lose any teeth.

If you turn your head to the side, the bite sorta looks like Michael Jackson :O . I'm waiting for my first tag too. Halen almost got me today. However, I can handle lots of pain so I'll be fine.

Ouchies....that's a pretty one! My husband keeps asking about my snakes, especially if he sees that I've had one out: "Has it bit you yet???" :rolleyes: No...not yet. But I'm sure someday a tag will come, maybe not from these two, but some snake or two or three down the road. If you don't fear it...no big deal, I say.

i fear it... and i hope it never happens to me... esp after seeing the bruising on your bite!!!

Snake bites have a way of looking horrible, but not hurting much. I've been bitten a lot.. big snakes, small snakes.. it's really, really not a big deal. I suppose a bite from a 15' retic would be different, but for your average snake keeper, a seriously nasty snake bite is not something to worry about.
