Feeding Question

Ok I am going to try to feed my snake for the first time today. I was wondering if i could leave the pre-killed mouse in the cage overnight, without the mouse going rotten. I would like to freeze this mouse if my snake does not eat it.

Yes, you can leave it overnight. I would remove it first thing in the morning though, if the snake has shown no interest by then, and dispose of it. Otherwise, it may start getting stinky!

I agree with Judy. If you leave it overnight, just throw it away in the morning. If you want to try and freeze it, I would only offer it for a max of 1 hour.

last week i went through that with my second BP. i left the mouse in there overnight and she didnt show interest for it so i gave it to my hungry kingsnake that eats anything(she is like my leftover trash can) lol.

i would advice not to freeze it again.

I am glad to say that my BP has eaten 2 live mice since then! i will try frozen thawed next week.

Refreezing of rodents is fine as long as it is only done once and is done within an hour or so after thawing. The freezing and thawing process breaks down the rodent's tissue and exploding rodents are not cool...
