BPs you wish you hadn't passed by......
Have you ever seen a BP that you weren't sure whether or not you wanted, but later wished you had bought? i was rummaging through my box of phtographs and came across a few interesting ones......take a look at the little guy in the middle......

...except the big one, believe it or not these were all from a new shipment of balls when I worked at Petco. It is an old photo, about 6-7 years old, before i really knew about the world of BP morphs beyond anything besides albino-hey, I lived a sheltered life when I worked there....I had already had a pair, and I thought, what the heck do I need another for???....not a day goes by that don't kick myself for not buying him...and from Petco for $79.99 nonetheless!!!

of the two which one would you choose? I chose the one with the spots, but wished i would have bought both. I carefully inspected them both several times, and couldn't decide...but eventually chose the one with more spots (Kundalini)but the reduced pattern was really nice too. These were at a recent reptile show....Exotic Ball Pythons.Kundalini is a great eater, has great color, and a good disposition...gaining weight like crazy too! I just still wished i had walked out with her sister too.....

A couple of years ago at a show in Manassass, VA...I fell in love with this guy. Not a smidge of yellow on him...all beautiful chcolate shades of brown. The lady selling him only wanted $50. I'm not saying I thought he was a morph or anything, but he was the prettiest normal I'd ever held and I SO connected with him at that show. Smynx, Smulkin and Jotay were all there and know how I kept going back to that guy. But my marriage was more important to me than the snake.... LOL. So I had to pass on buying him. To this day, I miss him....how weird is that???

It's even more strange at my house because the wife and I both pick pets (and friends for that matter) based on an almost instant "vibe". So I couldn't imagine having to balance a breeding project and potential offspring value calculations with "but he's super sweet" emotional crap.

Check your local mom & pop pet stores and make nice with them, give them your number to call you when someone surrenders a pet ball python. I got Sarah for $50 at my pet store. She was 1280 grams at the time. Most of the non-chain pet stores sell adults cheap - because most of their customers want babies and they don't want to have to feed the adults.
