Thanks for all the advice everyone. My snake is about to shed and i'm trying to make sure everything is ok. The humidity could be higher. I tried spraying the tank down with water, but i can't seem to get it above 55 and i know it needs to be around 70 when a snake is shedding. I also put the water bowl over the heat source in the tank. Any other ideas to boost humidity would be great.

What kind of enclosure? It seems to me that spraying down will create PLENTY of humidity. Could it be that you have a defective hydrometer?

Do you have a digital thermometer/hydrometer? I've found those to be much more accurate. My bp is about to shed as well and i mist lightly 2x's a day and have no problem maintaining 75% humidity in a 20 gal. long tank. Hope it helps!-Matt-

You can also try adding a humid hide. A rubbermaid container with a hole cut out. You can even use those disposable ones. Add some damp moss, and voila!! Good luck on your shed.

55% RTH is fine for shedding .... 70% works too, but if you can't get it that high you're not doing anything wrong.
