Why I am not a carpenter...
I'm now part way finished with my rack. Lets just say that it's not turning out quite how I had envisioned.

Oh well, it seems as if it will work allright. The rack is pretty much done, I just need to paint it and order some flexwatt and a thermostat for it.

I'll throw up some pics if y'all promise not to laugh at me.;)

i am going to do a rack that holds 6 Sterilite 32-qt. ClearView Storage Boxes. i wanted information on how to assemble the heat tape and thermostat. so if you have the time please provide me a step by step of how you did and heated your rack.

Okay, here it is. It's still far from completion. I am still going to paint it, and put a little door on the bottom to store stuff there. I designed it for 5 snakes, but right now I only have shelving setup for three. Once I get more snakes, I will add the other two shelves. Also, most importantly, I still need to get a heating system set up in it.

Not exactly a feat of engineering. I didn't have any sort of measurement tools, so I just kinda eyeballed everything. I built it around the tubs, so everthing is flush where it needs to be, it's just not always at the right angles.

Not a bad looking piece of work, I would have gone with different material, i don't really like the look or feel of wood but the build wualitry looks right on

The wood was a real pain to work with, I wish I had gone with a different material.

The wood was extremely bowed once it was all cut, and most of the time I spent working was spent trying to straighten it out. I also had to just eyeball and angle it as it seemed nessecary to make it work. If I had used something else that was straight, I could have just done it exactly by the blueprints I had drawn up. Wood was cheaper though, and I'm stuck with it now. If it works fine, I'll be a happy camper.

Probably gonna throw some posters or something on it to keep it from looking like crap until I paint it.

It will work for you! Way to go!

Next time you can use a fiberboard instead of the wood, and I would also invest in a tape measure.

Looks pretty good for your first stab at it! Noce job!
