    Bad News
I had to make some personal descions in my life and will be going out of country for at least a year near the end of this August. As a result im going to have to find Monty a new home hopefully temporarily, probably permantly. Its the only alternative that i can think of, i cant really take him with me (for one thing i have no idea where excatly i'll be living and therefore cant assume they allow pets and also how would i feed him?)

i had thought about this coming when i bought him but it didnt even look like a remote possibilty at the time.

    What should i do?

Do you have a close friend or family member who would be willing to foster him for you until you get home? (Someone you can trust with the husbandry aspects!)

well, my sister took care of him for a couple of weeks in the summer but that was totally different, i was 3 hours away and she was at home the whole time.

this time it'll be a different continent and for approximatly 10 months (on the low end) possibly more. BUT that is a good suggestion (i dont know why i didnt think of it) and i guess if shes willing and i train her properly over the summer then i would feel comfortable with that. i'll have to look into it. thank you

Still...is there anything else you can think of guys?

Hey watch with the volunteering! LOL and poor Monty is a boy not a girlie snake (you'll give him a complex there Aleesha! LOL)

Actually Alex if you need a foster situation for him while you are out of the country you might think about placing him with someone on the forum that has the space for him. If you offered to cover his needs for a one year period upfront and then if you can't retreive him after that point he would become their snake to do with as they wish (either keep or place out for pet adoption) it might be a viable option. Just a suggestion...

You know that if Monty needs a good home, I'll take care of him. I live in Virginia and more than competant with these guys. That, or Jo, or any of the other members.

    Just let us know, darlin'.

The way I look at it Alex if you find him a good home (permanent or otherwise) as much as you hurt to not have him with you on a daily basis, you are making a wonderful, caring decision for Monty's wellbeing so try to take a bit of comfort in that. Take the time to find the right home so you will be comfortable and secure that Monty is well cared for either for his lifetime or during the time he will be held in care for you. Thank goodness with the internet you're but a PM away from whoever and wherever Monty ends up being and digital photo's can keep you up-to-date on him as well.

Thanks Jo, you really lifted my spirits. Im trying to look at the next couple months positively even though they are the last i'll have with Monty (although hopefully that'll be only till i get back)
