    ready to breed some mice!
okay so i picked up 20 mice from the petstore today... special ordered them in for myself :D

and in the bunch i got about half a dozen females... so i bought another rubbermaid container... one that's deeper so they can have a wheel to run on! and i'm going to grow them up a few weeks cause they are still very young... and then i'm going to breed them.

my daughter's mice... which are now not hers (due to insufficient care - she's 7 yrs old) are all very pregnant... so those three are in their little 10 gallon tank alone waiting to birth.

and the males are all together with lots of carefresh bedding and a whole bunch of tp rolls!!! :taz:

i just giving them lab blocks for now on cause the mice seem to just eat what they want out of the mix i make instead of eating it all... so blocks for them and treats on the side.

so we'll see how well i do at this breeding process... *fingers crossed*

and... i have bred mice before... years ago for an owl sanctuary so i know what i'm doing... just hesitant cause i haven't done it in awhile.

and... they are still my daughter's mice... just not in her room anymore. i need to be able to feed them daily with the others. ;)

Good Luck!! I keep 1.5 mice together and it works well for me. Even see the pappas laying on top of the babies sometimes helping them to stay warm when moms are eating. Of course I dont get to stand and watch them very much, because I have almost 400 breeder mice right now!!! LOL!! I spend most of that time cleaning, feeding and weaning. Then when I am done doing them I get to do the rats and the snakes. LOL!! Oh well, keeps me busy!! Gotta love it!! :)
