    Feeding time so soon!
Hey I just got this new python yesterday and he ate a mouse today. He also had one yesterday at the store but they told me to try when i got him home and i did but the mouse was fast and scared him. So i had to kill the mouse and freeze it. So today i thawed it out and put it in hot water. Dropped it in there and left when i came back an hour later and it was gone and he was just looking at me like was that it.lol and went is his hide box. I just think that it cool that he was ready to eat and everything and is not scared or anything. Not bad for being at home for 2days.

It's really not good to feed so often. It's good that he'll eat for you, but try and space out those successes. ;) Once a week is more than adequate feeding schedule for any bp. Here's a link to an article on what their bodies have to go through in order to digest their meals... http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...02_python.html

Hmmm, didn't you just ask yesterday when you should feed him? I responded to that and advised you to wait a week.

Now, give him that week to get settled in and don't handle him during that week so he can get acclimated.

    Good luck with him!

Okay but the person at the store where it was bought said that if the snake was not stressed out to feed him again she usually fed him two in one feeding. And to handle him after two or three days not to wait so long. Everybodys says something different. So its kinda of hard when you first start out. I just thought it was cool that he ate again and is so active.

If you were at an average pet store, their personnel have minimal training. It is difficult to sort out all of the information. It's not the end of the world that he ate twice so soon, but I would recommend giving him the week to settle in like Robin said. ;) You won't really see the true personality of the snake for a month or so. There's all sorts of stuff you hear about, like feeding in the tank will cause aggression. I was so worried about that at first. Now I feed in the tank. Listen to those people who have kept bps for MANY years. They are a wealth of knowledge.

I think that majority of the info I have seen here is more accurate than most pet stores. So thanx I think i will let "Juicy" rest for a while. I will get some pics up soon. How long Does it take for me to find out his/her sex its 6 mnths.
