Just a Little Bit of Help Needed

I'm taking English-200 right now and I'm working on finishing an essay that basically discusses the following: Religion, society, and fear concerning snakes and how this fear paired with irresponsible ownership has caused unjustified bad reputations for snakes.

I was wondering if anyone could point in the right direction of some good, solid scholarly resources.

I'll also be quoting The Bible and also am looking at other cultures that fear and/or revere these wonderful creatures.

Very. I'm actually using these cultural religions to base some of my argument off of. That people see snakes as evil, as Satan, as sin, and therefore, subconsciously hate them.

I thought it was an interesting read.. now I can say with confidence that the Bible does not call snakes evil. Ha!
