    Fir as Substrate?
    Hello everyone,
I was wondering if it is safe to use fir as substrate for my ball python? I have a lot of it laying around, since i do use it for my mice.

the oils in fir and pine are toxic to snakes. I was using it for my rats as well as the mice, but the rats developed wheezing. Once I put the rats on aspen/paper, the wheezing w/some Rx has gone away.

I keep my few live mice on the pine, but aspen is better for the snakes.
