I thought some of you guys might find this interesting. :) In order to do basic grooming of which the bunnies are not at *all* fond such as toe-nail clipping and cleaning the scent glands we have to put them into a trance state in order to get anything done. They'll kick the living daylights out of you and no nail clipping will take place otherwise.

Karen took a couple of pics of hypnotized house bunnies this week. I scoop them up, flip them over, then tilt them back slightly in my lap to put them under. I don't know why this works, but it does. They kind of zonk out. Karen grooms them while I hold them.

    Here's Daphne in la-la land.

Bowie is harder to put under because he's bigger, and it doesn't work unless I tilt him back a little further. I'm just cradling him gently in my lap.

This technique is also a life saver when they need any kind of medication. I wish it worked on my cat! Here's a pic of them looking normal too, just cuz.

It's weird when they do that, isn't it? I did that with my cousin's dwarf fuzzy lop thing. Clipped her nails that way.

Cute bun buns.. though I prefer mine in the freezer. :)

That's sooo cute. Oh, and Bowie looks like a Devil Bunny in that second-to-last picture. -Pout.- I miss having bunnies. I used to have one of your "run of the mill" white ones.

No idea why it works, but it does! And yup, on all rabbits... except maybe giant french lops or Flemish Giants or something which would crush your lap I imagine!!

They're quick to forgive me, not an hour after that Bowie gave my foot a lick then bounced away happily, lol. He always looks a tad demonic in pics, he redeyes like nobody's buisness! Even in person his eyes (one blue and one brown) have a reddish gleam to them. I wonder sometimes if he has some mild form of albinism?

We've bunnyproofed the livingroom bigtime and sure they've destroyed some carpet and nibbled on some of the wood furniture they shouldn't (our coffee table was worth $15 to begin with though, so no big loss there lol), but overall they're good buns. They have lots of toys to chew on and space to run around, but I also am able to supervise them all the time since I work at home. Very sweet and personable pair, especially Bowie! He is the most relaxed and friendly rabbit I've ever encountered! Daphne is snuggly but has her moods. She is also Bowie's boss, lol.

I don't find them at all stinky, but I change their litter box every other day since Bowie came along. TONS less stinky than the mice I had for a while, holy cow! I also make ample use of Healthy Habitat spray and Febreeze tho. But I find them to be at least as clean and personable as a kitty *shrug* We really want to get another, but need to get them a bigger "bedroom" first and possibly ourselves a bigger place first. A dwarf hotot or mini lop. :)

Amusingly their favorite place to lounge is under Neptune's cage. I think he would be offended if he knew what fuzzy cuteness lurked below. We've learned we love the quieter critters though, Karen and I are all about the snakes and wabbits!
