This is my boy toy of 3 years "Rob" and buttercup together, I was cleaning her cage and thought they looked cute together so i snapped some pics :)

she has gained 13 pounds so far(5 weeks) so hopefully she will fatten up nice

It's a girl for sure? You've got a lot of snake on your hands.

we thought it was a boy up untill we took her to the vet last weekend and got her checked while we there, its about a 90% chance she is but we dunno for sure. Shes gonna go back in a few months for a regular checkup so we will check again then

can they do hormone tests or something besides probing / poping ????

I've never heard of a hormone test for snakes.

Probing is an easy and reliable way to sex boids. Females only prob a few scales (generally not more than 4) while males probe 11-14 scales.

the vet "poped" her and and inspected with a q tip, she said she saw no hemipenis ( i think thats what its called) she said it was unusal how much the spurs stick out and that we would prob her at a later date
so buttercups sex is still kinda unsure untill we can go back to the vet in a few months...many things say shes a male (spurs, size) but then the poping revealed possible female.....we will get it sorted out eventualy;) , its not like im breeding her and im going to feed her the same regarless of male or female, i will get a new cage once we know her sex for sure:)

Why doesn't the vet just probe her? It's not difficult to sex a burm.. makes me wonder about your vet.

Females can have large spurs too.. this is true of most every boid! Your vet should know this too.

I would care if it's male or female.. since females get MUCH bigger. A lot more responsibility IMO..

we didnt have an appt for it and we were already pretty late,i asked her if she could pop him b4 we go cuz it would have been much longer to get her stuff ready and blah blah, it just wasnt a good day to sex lol, and she said shes females with large spurs but not often

i do care but what i was saying is it can wait a month to find out for sure, no matter how much i feed her i dont think she will grow that fast in one month is all
