    Which one?
Hey gang, I've been looking at monitors for the past while now. And i was wondering, which is more easy to have as a pet? An Argus monitor? or a sav?
I wouldn't have the monitor around small children, so thats not a big deal. Also, I have had a savannah monitor but only for a few weeks, he died from a disease he had at the pet store. :( (which I won't be purchasing items from anymore)

    Any suggestions?

I not new to reptiles either. I've grown up with them. I currently have a BP and a KS. But i've previously had:

A green iggy(which got fairly large), lots of frogs, rosy boa, worm snake (WC), and beardies, and for a few weeks, the sav manitor.

    Please help me out

As far as I know, Argus are much less 'tamable' than a savannah.. and even savs can be not nice.

If you like smaller monitors, the ackie (varanus acanthurus) is an excellent and beautiful choice. They typically will calm down with handling. There are two varieties.. red and yellow.. red being slightly more expensive.

If you really want a big lizard, the black throat monitor (Varanus albigularis) is a wonderful animal. It's kind of like a 'deluxe' savannah. They also can be 'tame' but still, a 5' lizard can inflict a painful bite or scratch.

Google is your friend.. there is a lot of research to be done.

I love big herps. But being underaged, I cant dedicate a whole othe room to them, and only supply a fairly large terrarium. I was looking on the internest and saw this pic of a black throat.

do they normally get this large? if so, theyre out of the question. i know savs can get to a pretty decent size, but not THIS huge.

do black throats normally get this big? V

I changed your pic to a link.. since that's not your picture, you can't post it directly.. always link to a pic that isn't yours. ;)

Savannahs can get 4-5' long too and are going to need at LEAST a 6' cage when full grown, if not an 8' cage. Since you are young, I would definitely say an ackie! Awesome lizards, and they won't get too big on you like a sav can. Excellent start for monitors, and are pretty easy to breed too if that's what you're interested in.
