Humidity problem and a stuffed snake

Happy monday everyone!
I was able to get my tank heated properly but the humidity problem is still going strong.:tricho:

My tank is 4 feet long, 1 foot wide and 1 foot 10 inches height.

I have one UTH and 120W bulb on the hot end. one 50W on the cool end and a black bulb doing the center right.

these are the options Ive tried to get the humidity to 60
1. large water dish in center with soaked sponged in dish with whole :mad:
2. large water dish under uth and hot bulb with an extra water dish along with the soaked sponge. Even tried covering 1/3 of the tanks top.:irkd:
3. using a funky fogger from some thing my dad has inside of a dish placed on the top of the tank so the fog falls into the tank.
That idea seems to work and bring us the most humidity but it exceeds the right amount of humidity and soaks the tank after a while which isnt good. also it can decrease the tanks heat to much in the middle. :confused:

What the heck should I do? Its not so easy to spray the tank down with a mist bottle cause i have to get it really wet and it last about 5 minutes.
What options have you guys and gals tried and what works best?

Also, we fed Khan a rat "hopper" that seemed mighty big for him (khans about 2 1/2 feet about 190-200 grams) and although he ate it his stmoach looks HUGE :O and in the last 2 and a half days he has not moved. every now and then we will pull his head up to check out whats going on. Is it possible his eyes were bigger than his stomach and we feed him something to big and we hurt him?

We house both our BP and BCC in 20L glass vivs and are able to keep the temps and humidity pretty much right on. Have a look at the guide my fiance Rick wrote up. =)

if you have the money i would reccomend getting a second UTH and thermostat to create the cool side and then one CHE in the middle for ambient temps. then cover most of the rest of the screen with sran wrap, plexiglass, aluminum foil, etc. and that will help the humidity too.

would I get rid of some bulbs then if I purchased another UTH since most of the cage top has lights on it?
Thanks for your advice I really need it..i spent the whole weekend trying all sorts of things.

Heat light bulbs will suck more humidity from the air than a heat emitter...

In both our vivs, we have two UTH's set up with thermostats and then a CHE plugged in with the warm side UTH. The CHE is centered over the water bowl, which acts as a water source for the snake as well as an evaporation pool to help keep the humidity up.

Then the screen lid is covered with a custom cut piece of plexiglass - although Saran Wrap or whatever plastic will also probably work, we just like the "cleaner" look of the plex.

What's not listed in the above picture is the daylight lamp above and to the right of the moonlight lamp (daylight set from 6am-6pm, moonlight 6pm-6am). Neither provide that much additional heat to the viv, maybe 1-3 degrees. They are there since our house is dark most of the time (closed blinds) so to enforce when day and night is and so we can see the girls. =)

so do you think I should get frid of a bulb, maybe a 125 watt black and do the ceramic heater that can give me just the right amount of heat? I mean so far it looks as if it is truly the lighting thats sucking my humidity.

I am looking into getting a Exo Terra Fogger, should I cut loose with the moola and get one or try the other options first....

Here is what I do for my tank. I have Beauty in a 55 gallon tank as he is 4 foot long. I have flex watt on warm side with ranco thermostat. On cool I have a 11 watt uth with another thermostat. The temps are 90 on warm and 85 on cool. I then have the water dish in the middle under the main light. This produces a humidity level of 64%. Then when shedding starts I bump up the humidity by placing warm water in the dish.

I have also covered 3/4 of my screen on top to hold in the moistuer.

i have never seen flex watt used, how does it work and how do you use it according to a tank/how much/ where?

contact matt at www.mgreptiles.com and he will help you with all your needs. he is a great guy and everyone here will agree. also, his username here is justcage, so if you want you could probably pm him. i have a shipment of flexwatt on the way with a ranco thermostat from matt. for your 4 foot long tank i would get 2 feet of 11in flexwatt with a thermostat( which kind depends on what you are willing to spend).
that would be best for the warm side. BTW, what are the temps for your hot and cool side of the cage?

why is flexwatt so great?? and what does it substitute for?
