ever show a fresh shed to a cat??
so today i showed my fresh shed to cat #1 and after about 5 seconds of heavy smelling she kinda pulled her head back, her hair bristled, and she sat there with her mouth half open making wierd little noises. i did the same thing with cat #2 and got the exact same reaction... i retested over and over and pretty soon i had both cats following me around the house mewing.
anyone else ever done this? the shed was still sticky it was so fresh.
i'm thinking maybe they look at snakes as a nature enemy or maybe just an impedance on their territory? it was definitely odd... they look at the snakes through the cage glass all the time without any reaction except bored curiosity.
Re: ever show a fresh shed to a cat??
i hope this doesn't create an interest from them now.
my cat loves to knock my snake enclosures around, which is why we have them tethered to the table!

ha, well that door is always closed when i'm not in there... that way if the snakes were to get out they'd stay in the room.

My cat "Lunch" does well with our herps. Of course we have extremely secure housing. (But we never know when there may be a break out)
Lunch just grew up around everyone. So he tends to mind his own buisness and not care too much about everyone else.
He does seem to keep everyone in check, like he knows when there is a new arrival. He sits and watches our isolation enclosures.
