Newest addition
Well after the passing of our last hamster, my daughter has been begging for another hamster. She finally broke my husband down, and we got this little girl yesterday. :aww: We finally came up with the name Squeakers. Now commence with the oohing and ahhhing.

I never was a big hamster fan but she/he is cute! Hamsters always were so bitey. Gerbils were the choice rodent pet in our household. Good temperment and fun little guys. Congrats on the new acquisition!

Re: Newest addition
I'm not usually a hamster fan, but our last panda hamster was an angel. She was THE coolest rodent I've ever had. This little girl is pretty relaxed, and doesn't mind petting. She's gotten me once pretty good, but she thought I was food and let go when she figured it out. I'm hoping once she settles in, she'll mellow out a bit. She's doesn't mind petting at all.
Natalie is so in love with the little critter. (thank you Jo for the proper homage to such a cute girl ;) )

Re: Newest addition
Well hamsters are cute! We've had a few over the years.
Prometheus (a female and I have no idea why I named her that lol) was a hoot....loved hot sweet tea and would not stay out of mine...finally got her a little kiddy sized tiny china tea cup she could have her sip of tea in.
Houdini was an escape artist (orginally named Leonora)....we could not keep her in her very elaborate, expensive habitrail thing...she always found a way out...then she'd hide in really good places like the kids' beds or the cat's litter box (no one said hamsters were real smart! lol). Last I knew Houdini was living in the kitchen wall, coming out to snack on cat food and generally having a grand old hamster time LOL.

I've been bit by every hamster I've ever held. Take the most docile friendly happy hamster, and it will bite me. Thats just how it is.

Maybe your fingers just smell like hamster-chow? :P
Very cute little fuzzy-critter, Christie!

That's exactly how hamsters are with me...and it always seems that I get all of the hamster sales at work. I let the hamster smell my scent, get used to my presence...and wham! Vicious attack for no reason, however I know once home with the new owner the hamster will make a fine pet because it likes everyone but me. I must just have that predator vibe going on...which is okay for me.:taz:

Oh Jason, we are so in the same boat. When I worked at a Pet Shop, the hamsters all HATED me to. So when a customer bought one, it generally meant scooping the one into the box, without using my hands.... so I did not get bit. I hated when there was about 15 plus hamsters in the same cage, made the whole scoop and close box thing ineffective and difficult at most.
