    post shed
Mr. Fuzzy shedded last night. I found the shed peice in a ball under his hide. Being new to BP: Is it normal for the skin to be in a ball? I unwravled the skin and there appears to be a brown tint to the shedded skin. I've only seen clear sheds but I am going to assume that its normal since my BP is brown. Also, I think there is some blood from where he started to pull the dead skin off, is that normal? He's already got a vet appointment for possible RI but I don't really trust her and I just wanted some second opinions about the shed.
    pics to come i hope

That looks like a perfectly normal shed skin to me. The brown tinting on the old skin is perfectly normal for ball pythons. And a tiny bit of blood is not uncommon. Sometimes the shedding will tear at the vent a little bit and cause it to bleed. It's normal and is nothing to worry about.

Congrats on the successful shed, and good luck with the vet!

thanks! I was thinking that it was all normal but I've never had him shed before so I just wanted to make sure it was all ok!

Congrats on the shed. You can also find a "present" inside a shed ball...in other words...a big stinky poop LOL. Mine do that all the time. Just give the snake a quick once over and make sure everything came off clean as far as eyecaps, tip of tail, etc.

Glad to hear you are checking on any possibility of an RI. Always best to play it safe if you suspect a snake might be ill.

no..no present in the ball..thats what i thought at first too.We did place him in the bath tub to make sure he was all clean and he left us a nice present in the tub...much easier to clean! I didn't know the little guy had it in him!
