nice rack!!

Looks good Bryan. Im working on a 20 tub mouse rack right now. I hate stapling the hardware cloth to the shelf frames, so I do one then dink off for 10-15 minutes.
If you get tired of dinking with the water bottles every time you need to open a tub, move the bottles to the side instead of the front. I usually put them towards the front so I can slide the tub out almost all the way.

Im thinking of making up a smaller rack for the pregnant mothers, small tubs maybe 10 quarts or 14 quarts or a small cat litter tray? so that they can be alone. Not sure how I would make that but I was thinking since the tubs/trays might have smaller lips, to use some type of U shaped metal screwed to the side for them to slide in.

Guess we will see, i will think more about it when im not brain dead

Check out the angle iron ... you can find it in pretty much any size. It also doesnt have to be steel or iron ... Ive seen it in aluminum but its a bit more spendy. Aluminum will be easier to drill, but if you get precise memasurements and a few drill bits you can drill through the harder metals. It should be grouped up with the flat metal.


I prefer wood as I tend to either cut myself or hit myself a few times and break stuff around the house (unintentionally) when working with metal. At least wood has a little give to it.

Nice rack, a gravity reservior would eliminate the issues with the water bottles. Freedom breeder sells them and here's the shocker, they aren't all that expensive. I don't know whether or not it would be compatible with your rack, just thought I'd throw that out in case it helps.

With how often my females like to flood themselves with 16 ounces of water, i dont want to know what kind of catastrophic failure i would encounter with gallons :)
