Moved to general herp. Hm.. not sure on that second pic. My first thought was a red mountain racer, but the black stripe is too thick. Some sorta colubrid. :)
Hmmm...I would guess a red-bellied black snake (Pseudechis porphyiacus)...but if it is, it seems like a rather spectacular specimen.
It doesn't look quite like a ringneck snake either.. but close.
give you a hint....common name is W._._._._._r._ _ W._._._ S.n._._._
I guess my brain is not working well today, because I still don't know what it is.
Best hint for me would be the region where they are found. :)
