P. cambridgei breeding notes

INSERTION SUCCESS!

Notes:

Ended up nudging the male closer to the corkbark tube, as he seemed content to sit on the glass of the 10 gal custom tank of the female. No drumming reported.

It is possible that they have been drumming at each other at night from seperate cages before they were introduced.

Female was stuffed with male B. dubia roaches before introduction.

After a long wait, of probably at least 20 minutes, the male carefully groomed both palps and began setting foot in the cork bark.

Male and female stayed about 3 inches away from each other toe to toe for probably another 15 to mins

Male carefully began inching down, stopped and groomed both palps again.

Female began inching closer and stopped.

Male began drumming, although most of the time, his palps were twitching in mid air instead. (No audible noise at all, however.)

Female seemed eager, as front legs were placed over the males, and appeared to have no intention of eating the male.

After a long stately slow courtship, I believe insertation was made.

Male backed up, and groomed both palps.

After about 5 mins, male began drumming and repeated the courtship process, resulting in apparently another insertion.

Male backed up, and groomed both palps again.

Same amount of wait time, male began drumming and repeated the courship process, resulting in a clear insertion.

Male backed up further than before, and it appears that they would have continued to breed, but they were seperated at this time.

Time will tell if the female drops an eggsack. :banana:

Wow cool! Are those suntigers? One of my favorite Ts..

Nope, Suntigers are P. irmina. These are Trindad Chevron.

They're the same genus though.

Oh well.. they both are beautiful.

I was skimming through the threads and thought I'd update.

Sadly, she molted :( So no possiblity of a good eggsack unless I get my hands on another P. cambridgei male.

My male is still making his rounds at The Theraphosid Breeding Project though.

Oh that's too bad..

My friend Therese (whom you may know as she's friends with the guys at theraphosid breeding project) has offered to give me a P. Cambridgei. They're really neat Ts..
