Green Tree Pythons

I have a Sorong GTP. Just like any snake, you're going to find different personalities. I've had mine for about 8 months now and she has never bit. HOWEVER, GTP are funny in that they typically go into hunt mode when the sun sets. I've never attempted to take it out at night, but I'm positive I'll get a nice tag if I try. Otherwise, she's (I haven't sexed it yet, but I refer to her has a "she" for some reason) a lot of fun when I take her out during the day. They're not really a handling snake like a Ball Python or BCI, though. Usually the only time I handle her is when I need to clean her perch or if I notice her being too sedentary for a few days. They are known to get constipated if they aren't very active, so I try to encourage her to move around a bit.

She's a lot of fun to watch, though. A couple days before feeding day she will put on a show with her caudul luring (wiggling the black end of her tail around). And at night when she is in hunting mode, she will follow you in strike position as you pass by her cage. :devilish:

Lawrence, is your GTP your avatar? If so, would love to see some more pictures...

The eyeballing you after dark while hunting sounds wild, hehe...

I wish! No, my avatar is a Canary GTP. As you probably know, GTPs start out yellow or red, then change to green at about a year old. The Canary supposedly stays bright yellow, but some people say they eventually turn green at an older age. Either way, they're all very purty. :D My girl is bright green with a blue stripe down her back and scattered with white scales.

thanks matt, yeah the last time i had him out for a little soak and that didn't go well with him! lol he was striking at everything that moved for about 2 hrs. he doesn't mind (too much) if you remove the perch with him on it, but if you remove him from the perch, well it's on! lol

Man that sounds like my carpets to a T - they deathgrip the branch (they're still juvies - almost always up there) and do NOT like coming off.

I love those GTP heads - awesome looking snakes!

He is gorgeous. GTPs are so cool looking.
