how much wattage can these lamps handle?

i have a small fluker's clamp lamp and i jsut bought an ESU redheat 75 watt light bulb. and when i turn the lamp on all i can see if a little red light inside of the bulb. the bulb gets hott too, but i was just wondering if 75 watts is too much for the lamp and if the light is suppose to be a little brighter? here is a link to the light bulb, http://petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?N...237&enemerch=1

It usually has the max wattage listed on the lamp. I doubt 75 watts is too much though....thats what I use in my lamps and I have never had a problem....but I would check just to make sure ;)

i looked on the lamp but it doesnt say
what's the worst that could happen if it is too much? it wont catch on fire and burn the house down or anything woudl it :worry:

It could easily catch fire if the incorrect bulb is used in a lamp. I know someone whos house burnt to the ground and their entire collection died because of a short in a lamp. Be careful with this stuff.

check out the socket on the light fixture, it should tell you the max watts. if not go to flukers website and contact them. i like to use the lights that have a ceramic fixture and rated for 250 watts, even though i don't need that many watts. that bulb you have is for nocturnal use so it is not going to be bright.

Usually those clamp lamps from Fluker's come in a box...that box if I remember right has the recommended usage on it. If not, as suggested, check the Fluker's site or email/phone their customer service if not listed clearly there.
