    Carmen the Day Walker
So yesterday and this morning, Carmen has decided she is a day snake. She was out and about yesterday noon. While it was feeding day for her, just weird to see her hunting during the day and not curled up in her hide or around her favorite viv plant.

Then this morning, she was hunting again! In the morning!

We've been easing her into eating since that weird poo-gurge thing she had a few days after we got her (treating it like it was a gurge so now just gradually working up to appropriate-for-her-size prey tiems), but I think she's hooongry, even after eating yesterday!

My BCI won't use his hides :(

Carmen only uses the warm hide after she eats...she'd much rather be inextricably tangled in her favorite plant. =P

She's never ventured into the hide on the cool side (which is a duplicate of her warm side hide) although I'm not concerned about her use of hides since boas differ from bp's need for hide security...

Mine is out in the mornings all the time  . I know they are supposed to be nocturnal but I see mine out at all times durring the day, even after she has eaten just a day or 2 before.

Funny enough I'd say Rauri the BCI just never seems to show a huge preference. He's more likely to be active in the early evening or early morning but not really nocturnal....oh what is that word for creatures like bats that come out more in daylight and twilight times.....dang...google time!

Crepuscular! That's what Rauri is most like.

Hmm, okay...sounds like normal behavior then. =) Hadn't read anything other than "boas are nocturnal", so I thought it was odd....thanks guys!

So nice to have snakes that are up and about at various times of day or night! Somebody's always awake to keep one entertained that way.:D

Twio days in a row now, Carmen's poked her head out of her hide when her daylight turned on (which is the same time we're getting up)..."hi mom!" =)

I don't know about other BCI's since Rauri's my first exposure to this kind of snake but they do wierd stuff LOL. When Rauri poops (and it's huge!) he does this bizarre thing where he stretches his head up to the mesh lid on his glass viv. I swear it looks like he's trying to get some fresh air LOL. He'll do this till I hurry up and scoop the big poop out, then curl back up quite happily. He also occasionally taps on his lid, not a nose scraping thing...just sort of bumping the lid enough to make a gentle sound. When I walk over he drops back down and stares at me. Funny enough it's always when it's about time for him to come out for a bit of exercise after his quiet days following a big feed, never does it any other time. I know a snake can't really process thought like a dog but geesh I swear he is trying to get my attention. He is at least 2 years old so maybe as they get older in captivity they just develop odd behaviours since they've learned to equate that behaviour with a desired result??????

Wrigley's taken to burying himself in the aspen. He's never done that before. But he's still not into the "hide" thing, either. I even went so far as to put different ones in, so he's at least trying them out, but I've yet to see him in one for more than the one time.

I also have his tank a little cooler than the BPs. He seems to be more active that way. *After PMing April about the temps confusion of BP vs. BCI*
