I come home and find a pile..
One of my female mice gave birth like a day and a half ago - 8 babies. She is in with another very preggo female (who has been helping with the nursing of the original 8) and the male.
What A suprise when I came home today though!! I knew the other female was going to give birth, but i DIDNT know what a pile of 20 pinkies would look like! How cute!!

Heh, I found out the hard way that some mothers are greedy. Two female rats were together until I could build another rack, and i think both gave birth to 15... slowly over 30 hours the one other stole a few at a time while the other mother was at the water/food area. Ended up being 28 on one and 2 or 3 under the other. was pretty funny :)

LOL! Now...was one mother "stealing" the other babies? Or was one mother pushing her babies into the other nest so she wouldn't have to mess with so many? (I know I've been tempted to try that trick a time or two! :P )

I think i saw her in the process of stealing one a few times, but i didnt see her take them from the nest, just from halfway between, maybe it was 50/50!
I seperated them and now they each have about 15 and are doing well.
