tub cold side is too cold. recomendations
Hello everyone. As man of you know I just seperated my BPs into the 12 inch high tubs. I am using flex watt for heating. I have the temp probe to the thermometer inside the tank and on the plastic above the flexwatt and it reads 90-92 degrees. I know thats perfect for the hot side, but the cold side is at 70-71. I have alot of holes in the tub, but thats to reduce the humidity. There was a few times I looked in the tub and the humidity read HI so it was over 90% or so. So I added the more holes. The temps didn't change just the humidity. Its basicly been the same temp since I set them up. I know its a little cold, but how do I raise that temp without raising the temp on the hot side? I currently have only one foot of flex watt per cage. I bought 4 foot total since Matt told me 2 foot per tub, but when I put the 2 foot strip under the tub it covered over 2/3s of the tank is that what I need? Then that would be right under the water dish too and heat the water increasing the humidity again plus give the snakes hot water. Also on Matt's website has the tub kits and they are only supplied with one foot of flexwatt so thats what I went with and saved the other 2 foot for the incubator I plan to build. Thanks for any advice.

Josh, grab something digital and measure the room temps accurately that your new rack is in please. It's good information to know the environment that the tubs are in when dealing with temps and humidity issues.

ok Sorry for lack of info. Althouhg today while I was observing my snakes I took a gander at the temps and today they are reading 76.6 on cold side and 93.7 on the warm side. I knew as soon as I asked the question it would fix itself. Humidity on the cold side is 71% I already have 6 rows of holes spaced 3 inches apart on all sides of the tub. My thermastat in the hall right outside of the room my snakes are in reads 76 and its a diggy thermastat for the house. My house normaly runs about 70 so that may be my problem too. today was a warm day so I opened the windows and such. So when my house is cold like down to 70, thats about where I keep it during the winter and its normaly up to 80's in the summer, what should I do it increase the cold side temp, but not shoot the humidity through the roof? Another thermastat with another piece of flex watt set to 75? I hope i don;t have to do that, but if I do then it will have to wait till next winter. The snakes in the mean time have been moving back and forth from hide to hide thermoregulating pretty nicely. I think they like having their own pads.

You can use flexwatt on the cool side with a thermostat. Or you can buy a space heater from wallmart or somewhere else to regulate temps aswell. You can even use an undertank heater as long as you can control the temps.
