Poo from both BBs, woot! They're settling in quite nicely, but as big as Neptune's tub is he looks a bit cramped to us so we're going to splurge (as if the snakes themselves weren't a splurge  ) and get him a tank or cage the same size as Ma-tsu's. We just couldn't find a clear tub that long, and they're *very* curious active snakes I don't think he'd appreciate an opaque one as much as a shyer snake like a BP would. So more tetris ensues. The trip to Goodwill yesterday certainly helped us clear up some space.

Both of them are up with the sun, which is so odd after Falkor and Gomez who are such night owls! Soon as we open the windows they come out for a drink then cruise all day till around 8 in the evening when they tuck themselves into their hides for the night. Karen's a day person and LOVES this. I still can't believe they were kept in the same tank with no hides all these years. When taking Ma-tsu out for a cuddle the other day I noticed lots of rodent bite scars too along her belly... poor baby. :(

They ALWAYS want to know what's going on. Even when Ma-tsu is tunneling she does so against the glass so she can peek out at us, and she'll lift her face at us at the glass flicking her tongue. If I lean over the tank, she lifts her head up to the screen and flicks her tongue at me as if saying hello. They watch the TV, they watch the other animals, they watch us... If I go in to freshen the water or check for poo, heads peek out of hides. This is a little nerve wracking with Neptune, but I wear the gloves just in case. Ma-tsu will watch me fill her water bowl and sniff me while she's wrapped around it!

After they're done digesting tonight's meal (very good eaters! I keep wondering if they need bigger rats or not... on medium at the moment and it seems to leave a small bulge, so it's probably good) I'm going to start working on taming Neptune down. He's a beautiful boy, and much more active than he was when he arrived. Once he's settled into a bigger enclosure we'll start shopping around for a small baby rack and incubator. Exciting stuff. :) I'm so in love with these guys, and so is Karen. So personable and put on quite a show.

After all this we're gonna need to take a break on spending money on snakes -aside from food, obviously!- if we ever expect to get out of Phoenix. Yeash. But they're worth every penny! All our critter children are. When we have a two bedroom place elsewhere one will be our snake room/office and we'll start keeping female babies and look for a male or two for some new blood. Ah, someday!

How neat Sheree! I didn't realize BB's were diurnal. That's one of the benefits of a mixed collection you get that variance in natural habits so can enjoy snakes at various times of the day/night without bothering them as much.

They sound like wonderful snakes to own....definitely adding one to my "I want this one day" list.

I get the feeling that intense urge to buy more and more snakes has been diminished quite a bit, now. :D Sounds like those beautiful Beauties will keep you satisfied, at least until you can finally get a bigger place to live.

Divirsity rules, Jo! /(^v^)\ Heck, not even just in appearance and behavior, but texture too! All our snakes feel so different to handle, it's just amazing... I am so hooked, lol. I will get more pics soon, promise! Ma-tsu certainly poses enough!

Radiated rat snakes are gorgeous! I love the starburst like eye pattern on those. :)

And yeah, I'm more than satisfied for the moment, Judy! Very content. :) I love all these guys to bits!

I thought they were supposed to be blue? That one pictured on the EBN site doesn't look blue...?

I'm with Jo...wait til Neptune and Ma-tsu get "busy". =D

They're more of an olive color when they're babies and grow into the blue. :) But yes, wait for mine! They'll be pampered and come with adoption papers and everything, lol! Plus I'll be selling females too, till we have room to keep more adults!
