squeak noise? every once in a while
well... Mr. Fuzzy Pink Pony... (long story, sex is still unknown etc), just started finally moving around the cage tonight, he finally went from the cold to hot side and is now in his hot side hide. however when he went in there it sounded like he was squeaking/chirping, he did it twice, his fork is NOT stuck together, and his belly is slightly pink, but this we believe is due to shedding. im assuming this might be caused by skin because of the upcoming shed??

humidity is difficult to keep currently, im trying to keep it 60%+ for the shed, but keeping it there is difficult as it likes to drop rapidly. we have contact paper on the lid with about 1" strips on both sides of the tank, a spray bottle.

hot side is 96 on the glass, and the cool side is 80 in the air (acurite)

    is the squeak/chrip/whatever normal??

hes done it 3 times so far tonight since he started moving, about 40 minutes ago.

96???? That is too hot. 92 is perfect. Try using seran wrap over the lid instead of paper, paper absorbs water. Not too sure about the squeaking. It doesn't sound good if you can hear it from inside the cage though.

what you are hearing could be wheezing rather than chirping. Possibly a sign of RI.

Is he/she in the shedding cycle?

Yes the snake appears to be in the shedding cycle. The noise could be a whezzing but it sounded higher pitched than just a wheeze.

Contact paper, is ok. It's the stuff you line shelves with and its not absorbant on one side. It's kinda like saying wax paper. It's not really paper, as you typically think. ;)

the ONLY time he makes these squeaky noises is when he is up and about moving around, ive seen him yawn a few times.

he is still making the noises tonight now that he is more awake...

he NEVER makes them when asleep. it sounds like the noise you sorta would make with a quick rub against the glass by your hands, that quick sqeak noise...

no gurgling, tounge is still split in the middle..

Not sure what you mean by "still", but it's supposed to be ;) .

I've never heard any of my ball pythons make a noise - sounds like a vet visit is in order for this guy.
