Just got her (I hope it's a her) today. The lady who picked it up for me on Sunday told me it ate a cricket yesterday. She disabled the cricket, and I guess the cricket was dead when she put it in there, but she said the spider ate it right up.

My question to you who have raised slings before.. do you think she'd take baby lobster roaches? Should I kill the bugs before I put them in there to make it easier for her to catch them, or should I just disable them?

For you who aren't tarantula people.. she is a green bottle blue. :)

    She's gorgeous!

When I got my slings they were too small for even pinheads and I couldnt juggle fruit flies. They all wound up growing well on bits of cricket legs with the shell split lengthwise.

I feed all of my small slings prekilled baby B. dubia roaches. I've never had a sling refuse to feed on prekilled bugs. This includes the smallest of my dwarf slings, which are about 1/4" from leg to leg.

Prekilled being that I squish the roach with the forceps right before it goes into the vial.

It works, you can prekill crickets too. I have had tiny sling eat prekilled crickets that were bigger than them.

My GBB is a pig. I just drop a dead roach nymph in there every other day or so, and she eats it right up.

Yeah, GBB's tend to be little pigs....which is why I named the first one Greed.

Yep.. heh she's funny, whenever I pick up her little cage, she comes running over her cork bark to see what I have for her.
