These are plastic tubs? I use binder clips like you can get at the office store to clamp lids on. Beware that rats chew out of plastic tubs.

Is anyone out there? Sorry if it seems like I am rushing you but I am not. I just need to know so that they dont get out as they are very curious and always try to get out.

Okay i will use the tape for now until i move then i will pick up some bungie cords as it will be much easier than keeping untaping and taping when i have to give food or water.

Didn't the tanks come with screen lids that snap on or lock on? I always get the kind that slide in and you can lock into place...but I have a 10 gal with a lid that snaps on. I'm pretty sure it would be secure enough to hold a couple rats. 10 gal seems small to me for rats...but that's just me. I've never kept them and don't know for sure.

I would avoid something like tape simply because rats need frequent attention and it would be a pain and a mess to deal with. And such inconvenience is liable to increase the chances of procrastination and neglect of animals.

Maybe just some extra weight on the lid, like a heavy book?

EDIT: Of course, tape should be fine until you can do something easier like bungee cords. ;)

I have a 20 gallon where the 2 studs and his ladies go when i want them preggie but the 10 gallons are for moms that are on babies or are about to have babies. Nope my screen dont lock into place. I am just going to use the tape until i move in 9 days and then i will get bungie cords. Thank you everyone for the advice.
